Justin Verlander is absolutely back to his Rookie of the Year and 2007 form. He has had a great spring. Today against the Florida Marlins, Verlander threw a 2-hitter over 5 strong innings, including 4 strikeouts and 2 walks with no ER. Without a doubt, he will be the Opening Day starter in Toronto.

Figaro Figaro
The Detroit Tigers had a good weekend by winning on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday they had a come from behind victory against the aspiring Toronto Blue Jays, and on Sunday the club shut out the Washington Nationals.
It was an inpresive pitching performance on Sunday as the Tigers hurlers did not allow a run. The starter ended up being Alfredo Figaro, who replaced Rick Porcello because of a cut on his finger. The other Tigers pitchers, who also came up with scoreless innings were Rodney, Rincon (with the win), Casey Fien, Clay Rapada, and Williamson with the save. The final score was 3 to nothing.
Clay Rapada got out of bases-loaded and no outs jam by striking out two and getting a long fly out, which was almost a grand slam.

10-4 Good Buddy
The Detroit Tigers pulled off a 10 to 4 come-from-behind victory out of their collective hats today, despite a poor start by Dontrelle Willis. Nate Robertson came in for relief and retired 9 batters in a row. Eddie Bonine came on late in the game and had similar results, retiring the last 8 batters of the game. What else can I say but, “Pitching wins ball games!” The offense took off against the former Tiger Mike Maroth, now playing for the Toronto Blue Jays, featuring 4 infield hits and two home runs (Laird and Hessman).
In the World Baseball Classic, Venezuela came through with a victory over the Dutch 3 – 1, including a home run from Tigers first-baseman Miguel Cabrera. Tonight we get to see Team USA with Curtis Granderson in the outfield versus Puerto Rico, featuring Ivan Rodriguez behind the plate. I-Rod is still a free agent despite his great performance in the WBC. Inevitably, some team will sign him before the start of the MLB season.
